100 Shades of Nature fashion show
On August, 28, in collaboration with Scenit produktion AB, FASHION SPEAKS will present a collection of the Belarusian eco-brand Historia Naturalis — 100 Shades of Nature.
100 Shades of Nature – supports the ethical practices and pursuits of all women working towards their creative dreams.
100 Shades of Nature is an artistic response to challenges women face in the world of creative industries. To the Belarusian designers, empowerment is all about confidence and fashion is a tool to achieve that. A timeless silhouette is aimed to provide empowerment to women, while a series of prints in a grey color palette allow the designers to celebrate diversity and uniqueness of every woman. Focusing on questions regarding individuality, identity, and sisterhood on the one hand, Historia Naturalis also questions the use of sustainability and the frailty of nature on the other hand. While the color palette and silhouettes follow latest fashion trends, clothing production, as a rule, involves local industry players and highlights the evident examples of our fashion consumption. In the global fashion industry the garments we consume are often outsourced and produced through the use of a cheap labour, usually performed by underpaid female textile workers, which also happens in Belarus.
About the brand: Historia Naturalis is a Belarusian fashion brand led by a young female design duo: Polina Voronova and Larisa Atamanova. Founded in 2010, Historia Naturalis is gaining international recognition by focusing on a sustainable approach to the fashion design and accessories though local production. Designing from materials produced locally, the brand utilizes linen as the main natural material. Last year, the designers successfully introduced their fashion collection as a response to “the undefeated femininity”; established in the films of the Swedish film director Ingmar Bergman. This project was a part of the worldwide celebration of Ingmar Bergman’s 100-years anniversary.
